Labor & Employment hiring is strong in law firms across the country, with especially active markets on the East Coast, West Coast, and in the Southeast.
From junior associates to Of Counsel roles, demand is steady across a mix of litigation, compliance, and investigations work. Law firms are responding to increased client needs around wage and hour laws, DEI compliance, workplace policies, and regulatory enforcement.

What’s driving the demand:
Ongoing class and collective action litigation, particularly in California and New York.
A steady uptick in internal investigations and preventative counseling.
Corporate clients expecting broader advisory support in a multistate legal landscape.
Where firms are hiring:
East Coast (New York, DC, Boston): firms are adding associates in the 2–6 year range with litigation and counseling experience.
West Coast (LA, Bay Area, PNW): demand is high for attorneys with PAGA, tech, or gig economy exposure.
Southeast (Atlanta, Miami, Charlotte): a growing number of firms are building out L&E benches, especially those serving national clients.
More Senior / Of Counsel opportunities are available, but selective.
Key skills firms are prioritizing:
A balance of litigation and advisory experience.
Familiarity with multistate employment laws, especially CA, NY, GA, and FL
Experience handling or supporting investigations.
This is a good moment for lateral movement in L&E, especially for candidates who are flexible, practice-ready, and experienced in both litigation.
If you're considering a change or want to compare what’s out there, now’s the time to explore. Feel free to reach out.
