“Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck.” – Dalai Lama
Thanksgiving has always been a time of sincere gratitude in my family. Some years there is more to be grateful for, some less. This has been an intensely difficult year personally. Many of us have experienced painful losses, missed achievements, and the dread of future uncertainty. Yet through all of that, there are always an equal amount of things to be grateful for. They’re often just a little harder to find.
It is far easier to be consumed with what we want but don’t have versus seeing all the small things in our lives that we may not have consciously wanted or asked for, yet nonetheless make our lives far better.
For me this is gratitude. It does take effort to begin to see the millions of wonderful small things in our lives, but knowing that good surrounds us makes the bad we experience far less bitter.
One of the bright spots of my year is getting to talk with passionate attorneys who are looking to advance their careers, so I want to thank you for giving me that. It is an investment on your end to talk with a recruiter, to read their emails, and that is something that I never want to take for granted.
Thank you for your time, and even though some people are looking to 2023 as a year to be afraid of, I know it will be filled with opportunities and the good will far outweigh the bad.
In gratitude,
Ian
